Sybil, the wretched siren continues to mess up Mystic Falls. She flares up into the evil ideas wanting to kill the students should she not get the bell. She draws awareness to Caroline’s school. By her siren power, she seized a history teacher taking over Caroline’s history class.
Sound idea, she uses this to blackmail Caroline to go find the bell. Why? She just wants a souvenir or the class will burn as planned.
As to the main plot that of the brothers, Stefan concentrates on Damon and the doctor intern Tara. She grabbed Damon’s bubble reminding him of Elena by a necklace she wore with a dress a little bit darker in color that appears like the real replica. Stefan took this so he could examine Tara’s morality to her medical profession (he says). Put his brother in hospital and wants Tara to kill him. At first, she hesitates but Stefan knew her weakness. Her parents were killed by a drunk driver. He made her believe that Damon was a drunk driver. Motive enough, it eases the memory of losing parents killed by drunk drivers. As this transpires, Stefan has his brother’s belongings and finds the necklace.He holds on to it. Stefan went to bid Sara goodbye the next day. She condoles with him, But Damon reappears, ( how could he be killed, he is a vampire with supernatural powers). Damon kills Tara on the roadside as he and his brother take a ride home. By constantly reminding Damon of the memory that holds with the necklace, he throws it away only for him to go looking for it the next day.
The audience demands more than monitoring the characters’ behavior that tends to lose its pace at this airtime. The characterization that has been establishing from watching the episodes keeps flashing back and forth. With the watch is the focus on what is going on with the two brothers that are pulling the series all along. In the episode specifically, Stefan is yet to finish his year contract with Cade. Viewers will find that his attention is on Damon who is till not pass Elena.
Consequently, there is still that struggle of the past love-hate sibling approach in the story as both dwindle to other characters whims in harboring evil in the town, Why they seem to flow at the moment (they continue to be vampires as they would ordinarily be) contributes to the lull in the plot. At this point, there is a need to put a kick on the brothers to be whole and at it again.. As for Caroline, she now knows her best guard to keep her students and her kids from the wretched sirens personified by Sybil- the bell and the tuning fork.
This episode too seems to have loosened the connection of Stefan and Caroline. They got pushy with Darmon and Sybil respectively. How the story will pull them back to that wedding scene speculation is a bit hard at this time. Will it be significance cut the haunt for other evil characters to stop the wretchedness? As the characters needed something to jump out of the flat character that they are playing right now, is it high time Elena comes back on screen?
The Vampire Diaries, Season 8 has so much run in the subplots. It needs to establish more character scrutiny, that of the killers and recruits to the devil’s killing and doing harm.
